The pitch, at three lengths

One line

A horror movie app built for exactly two people.

One paragraph

Graveyard Shift is a horror movie app for two people who aren't in the same room. Both partners swipe on films privately, neither ever seeing the other's picks, and when they both want the same one it seals into a Blood Pact. The app then schedules the night across both timezones, runs a shared 3-2-1 countdown so they press play at the same second on their own streaming services, and captures every reaction against the film's runtime. It doesn't stream anything. It's a companion that runs beside Netflix and Shudder, and an archive of how one couple watches horror.

The insight, if you want one

Two horror fans who've each seen hundreds of films waste the first thirty minutes of every movie night negotiating: discovering the other has already seen it, or that it's not on a service they share. The hardest data problem in a movie app is logging what you've already watched. Graveyard Shift makes "seen it" a swipe direction, so the chore disappears into a gesture you were making anyway.

What it is not

It is not a streaming service and it never plays the film. That matters if you're writing about it. It's a companion app that coordinates two people pressing play on services they already pay for. The only video it plays is a promotional trailer, through YouTube's official player.
