By using Graveyard Shift you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
What the app is
Graveyard Shift is a companion for watching horror films with your partner. It helps you decide what to watch, schedule a night across two timezones, react in real time from your own couches, and remember it afterwards.
It is not a streaming service and it does not play films. You watch on your own streaming apps: Netflix, Shudder, whatever you already pay for. The app runs alongside them and keeps a clock. The only video it ever plays is a promotional trailer, through YouTube’s official player.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
You must be 16 or older to use Graveyard Shift. The app surfaces horror films, including titles rated R. If your local law sets a higher age for this kind of content, that age applies to you instead.
One pact, two people
A pact holds exactly two people. Either of you can leave at any time. When someone leaves, the shared history stays for 30 days so the other person doesn’t lose it, and is then deleted.
What’s free
Everything in the app is free right now, and some of it will stay free forever: swiping, all four directions, every deck filter, matching, scheduling, watch mode, and rating a movie together. We plan to charge for the long-term archive later — your history beyond 30 days, the stats screen, and the yearly wrapped. We will tell you before that happens.
Founding members
If you complete a movie night before the subscription launches, you are a founding member: if and when a subscription launches, you keep it at $34.99 a year for as long as you stay subscribed, even if the price for everyone else is higher. One subscription covers both partners in a pact. Nothing you have already recorded will be taken away or locked behind a payment.
Content and conduct
Chat and reactions are shared only with your partner. Nobody else can see them, including us. We don’t read them.
Be decent to each other. You can report a message from inside a movie night, and you can leave a pact at any time. We may act on reports, which can include suspending an account.
Trailers and movie data
Promotional trailers play through YouTube’s official player and are subject to YouTube’s terms. Film information comes from TMDB and availability from JustWatch, used under their terms. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Availability is a best guess from a third party. It goes stale, and services move films around without telling anyone. Check before you commit your evening to it.
What we don’t promise
The app is provided as-is. We don’t promise it will be available without interruption, that a scheduled night will always sync perfectly, or that a film we say is on a service will still be there tonight. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Changes and termination
We may update the app and these terms. You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time, from inside the app. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
